EMAYA

(Meaning ~ Universal Love ~ To Give Love)

OUR WELL-BEING MISSION

At Emaya, we believe wellbeing is built through the small rituals we return to each day.

A moment to pause. A moment to nourish. A moment to reconnect.

Our blends are inspired by ancient plant wisdom, crafted with exceptional botanicals, and supported by modern science.

We seek out ingredients of extraordinary quality, working closely with growers and communities who share our respect for nature, tradition, and sustainability.

Every blend is created with intention. Nothing unnecessary. Nothing artificial.

Only plants chosen for their history, purpose, and ability to support everyday wellbeing.

Because we believe the path to a healthier life isn't found in quick fixes.

It's found in the daily choices that become lifelong habits.

One cup. One ritual. One ceremony at a time.

Crafted For Wellbeing

Our award-winning blends are designed to nourish both body and mind, combining ancient traditions with modern understanding to support everyday vitality.

Rooted In Nature

My Journey

In 2014, my body asked me to stop.

What began as one debilitating injury became another, and then another. I was in pain, inflamed, exhausted, and searching for answers.

Conventional medicine offered me ways to manage the symptoms. What I wanted was something more. I wanted to understand how to support my body, not simply silence what it was trying to tell me.

Raised with the belief that food could be medicine, I began searching beyond quick fixes and temporary solutions. I wanted something ancient. Something pure. Something powerful enough to support the body day after day without compromise.

That search led me halfway across the world to “the abode of the clouds”, the mist covered hills of Meghalaya in northeast India. And it changed my life. There I discovered Lakadong turmeric. Not the supermarket kind. The rare kind.

But what captivated me wasn't only the turmeric itself. It was the people. The wisdom. The traditions, and the understanding that nature often knows things long before science can explain them. The deeper I explored, the more I realised that true wellbeing wasn't about finding a miracle cure. It was about creating small daily rituals that support the body consistently over time.

That discovery became the foundation of everything that followed.

The Plants That Inspired Emaya

Most people have no idea what they are actually buying when it comes to turmeric.

Research from Oregon State University's Linus Pauling Institute found curcumin content in ordinary turmeric at approximately 0.3%. Factor in age, poor storage, light exposure, and poor processing, and independent testing of commercial products has found curcumin levels as low as 0.03%. ((Source)) I learned that the true measure of turmeric is its curcumin content. Alleppey turmeric, one of the better-known varieties, typically contains between 3% and 6% curcumin.

While Lakadong turmeric naturally contains between 7% and 12% curcumin, the highest curcumin content of any turmeric variety in the world. It has earned India's prestigious Geographical Indication status in recognition of its exceptional quality and unique origin.

(GI STATUS)

Because it is as rare as true saffron, Lakadong turmeric cannot simply be replicated elsewhere.

To put its potency into perspective, a single teaspoon can provide the curcumin equivalent of anywhere between three and ten teaspoons of ordinary turmeric, depending on the quality of the comparison product.

You need less. You receive more.

But potency alone isn't enough. The way turmeric is prepared matters too. The Khasi people have traditionally sliced and sun-dried their Lakadong turmeric using methods passed down through generations. Modern research now shows that slicing methods during drying directly influence curcuminoid retention and overall quality.

Science is confirming what tradition long understood.

I also discovered that how you consume turmeric matters just as much as which turmeric you choose. Curcumin is naturally fat-soluble. Without the right supporting compounds, much of it passes through the body unabsorbed. Research published in the Journal of Medicinal Food found that Turmerones, naturally occurring compounds present in whole turmeric, significantly enhance Curcumin absorption into intestinal cells. However what makes Lakadong turmeric stand out above all other turmeric on earth is the extremely high Turmerones content at up to 44.3%. Thus nature has provided us with the fat needed to get the high curcumin content into your body, making Lakadong far superior in its beneficial compounds than any other turmeric.

(TURMERONES STUDY)

Further research has also raised concerns regarding the long-term use of highly concentrated isolated curcumin supplements.

(NIH STUDY)

Nature works through synergy. Not isolation. The whole plant matters.

Along the way, I also discovered moringa.

Often called the miracle tree or the tree of life, moringa has been treasured for centuries across Africa, India, and Asia for its remarkable nutritional value.

Every part of the tree has traditionally been used, from its leaves and seeds to its roots and bark.

Today, moringa remains one of the most nutrient-dense plants known and has become an important part of the Emaya family.

Together, Lakadong turmeric and moringa represent something I found myself returning to again and again during my search:

Plants that have stood the test of time.

Plants that traditional cultures valued long before modern science began studying them.

Plants that remind us that some of nature's greatest gifts have been hiding in plain sight all along.

Pnar Tribal Heritage

In the wild, mist-shrouded hills of Meghalaya, our Lakadong turmeric is harvested entirely by hand. The Pnar belong to one of the world’s last great matrilineal societies, a heritage where ancestry, identity, and the land pass gracefully from mother to daughter. For generations, these women have stood as the sacred custodians of family, culture, and tradition.

There is something quietly profound about a product rooted in feminine wisdom, grown in feminine land, and shared through generations of care. Long before scientific journals existed, the Khasi people understood the importance of respecting nature's rhythms. They knew that how turmeric was grown, harvested, sliced, dried, and prepared would influence its quality. What modern science is now discovering has been part of their lived experience for generations. This connection to place is what makes Lakadong turmeric so extraordinary.

It is not simply a crop. It is part of a living tradition. A tradition we are honoured to help preserve and share. Every cup of Emaya begins with that wisdom.

Why Emaya Exists

The modern world encourages us to look for quick fixes.

A pill. A shot. A shortcut. No wonder stress is the biggest factor of illness today.

Yet every traditional healing culture I encountered taught the opposite.

Small daily rituals. Consistency. Presence. Connection. A Pause.

The ceremony mattered as much as the remedy. The cup mattered as much as the ingredient. Health is rarely built in a single moment. It is built in the small choices we make every day.

One cup. One ritual. One moment of connection.

Again and again.

Until wellbeing becomes a way of life.

That realisation became the foundation of Emaya. Emaya was never created simply to sell tea. It was created to help people reconnect with a slower, more intentional way of living. A daily ceremony rooted in nature's wisdom and supported by modern science.

Every Emaya blend is handcrafted in small batches. Every ingredient is chosen with intention. Nothing unnecessary is added. Every cup is layered with botanical intelligence, traditional wisdom, and modern understanding.

Our blends have received multiple Great Taste Awards, but the recognition that means the most to me is much simpler. It is the message from a customer who tells me that their morning cup has become the moment they look forward to most.

A moment to pause. A moment to breathe. A moment to reconnect.

Having experienced such profound personal benefit from these blends, I felt compelled to share them.

And so Emaya Pure Life was born.

Not a supplement. Not a quick fix.

A daily ceremony that honours your body, your spirit, and the extraordinary intelligence of plants.

One sacred cup. Every day. That is where it begins.

With love,

Emma

“ I’m passionate about helping people that suffer from pain and inflammation. I know how debilitating it can be, it sucks the joy out of life.

After experiencing the impact these plants had on my own life, I felt compelled to share them with others.

What began as a search for support through pain and inflammation became a much deeper understanding of wellbeing, ritual, and the power of nature.

My hope is that every cup becomes more than a drink,

A moment to pause. A moment to nourish. A moment to reconnect.

Because true wellbeing is rarely built in a single moment. It is built through the small rituals we return to every day."
